Who can forget the excitement of hearing your name on the radio.,

You'd post a letter (or write on the back of a sealed down envelope!)  to Children's Favourites or Junior Choice - and then sit glued to your radio every week in the hope your favourite might be heard.

Some songs became firm favourites on the old children's programmes - from Nellie the Elephant to You're a Pink Toothbrush, Zambesi or The Ugly Duckling - and, of of course, the sound of Puffin' Billy! And who can forget Sparky's Magic Piano and The Typewriter.
